CITADEL CITIES SUMMIT



The International Star-Shaped Citadel Cities Summit
was held in Hakodate under the joint auspices of
City of Hakodate and Halifax, with ten cities from
nine countries participating.
The cities taking part in this Summit are as follows:

SOCIALIST REPUBLIC OF VIET NAM
Usuda, and Hakodate JAPAN

All delegates from each participant city exchanged
positive views and mutual information relative to the
Star-Shaped Citadel, and discussed redevelopment of
urban communities possessing a Star-Shaped Citadel, and
the continuance of the Summit concept.

Therefore, we recognize the following:

Through the evolution of the long and varied history
of our world, many star-shaped citadels have been built
throughout the globe.

The world-historic significance of these star-shaped
citadels will be rediscovered with regard to their
historical, cultural, and educational values. We will
do our best to promote common recognition from this
time onward.

The proliferation of star-shaped citadels in the world
teaches that it would be a most effective way to achieve
a lasting peace. All citizens in cities with star-shaped
citadels in common must create a global inter-city
network of peace and friendship, in pursuit of happiness
and quality of life. We should amplify this spirit all
over the world to promote a network friendly relations
among those who make much of history and culture.

Through this common historic and cultural inheritance,
we share, formally confirm hereby that the participating
cities of this Summit will deepen friendship and amity,
enhance mutual cooperation, encourage the promotion of
interchange, and strive to preserve the life of this
new-born inter-city network for realizing world peace.
