Information Relating to
the Great East Japan Earthquake

We express our deepest condolences to those who have lost their loved ones in the devastating March 11 earthquake and our heartfelt sympathy to those who have suffered from the disaster.

And we would like to thank all our friends from all over the world including our sister cities who have sent encouraging messages to Hakodate which was also affected by the earthquake and tsunami

Hakodate, however, was not as severely damaged as the areas near the epicenter. The tourism in our city is all ready to be back in business now.

We will be happy to see you in Hakodate where you are sure to enjoy its unchanged charm.
